How to tell

• Nearly identical to the German cockroach — same size, same two stripes.
• The behavior is the giveaway: Asian cockroaches fly readily and are drawn to lit windows and TVs at dusk.
• They live outdoors in leaf litter and turf, not in kitchen cabinets.
• You see dozens at once on a screen or wall at sunset, then almost none at midday.

Where you'll find it

• Mulch beds, grass clippings, and shaded ground cover.
• Screens and lit windows on the west side at dusk.
• Around exterior lighting and lanai lamps.

Why it matters

They are an outdoor insect that keeps arriving indoors by air, so cabinet baiting does nothing. Misidentifying them as German cockroaches leads to weeks of the wrong treatment.

How Strike treats it

We confirm the species first, because it changes the whole plan. Treatment targets turf and mulch harborage on the lit sides of the house, plus a perimeter band and treatment of screens and entry surfaces. We recommend warm-toned or shielded exterior lighting, which cuts the number arriving each evening. Service runs monthly or bi-monthly during the active season.

What you can do before we arrive

• Note the time of day you see them — that alone identifies the species.
• Rake grass clippings and leaf litter away from the house.
• Close blinds on the lit side at dusk for a few evenings.
• Tell us which exterior lights stay on overnight.
